Gandhi Jayanti is commended as a National Holiday in India to stamp the anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the 'Father of the Nation'. He was born in Porbandar on second October 1869. As a mark of respect this day is a National Holiday all over India and in the union territories of India as well.
